The seminar program includes visits to two research laboratories at Issyk-Kul and the seismic station located at Ala-Archa Natural Park, sightseeng tours to Semenov Canyon, and a boat trip across Issyk-Kul to the lidar station. During the trip poster presentations will be given for all the proposed seminar sections. Papers and Official Language The primary languages of the seminar will be Russian and English. All sessions will be provided with translation. Seminar reports will be published in Russian and English with consecutive translation. The papers approved by the Program Committee will be included in the proceedings. A CD-ROM with Kyrgyz ISTC projects and seminar reports in hypertext form is also planned. The seminar participants will be those persons confirmed by their own organizations and receiving invitations from the host organization. Additional information The Host Organization provides :
The local unit of currency is the som. In exchange offices you can convert Russian rubles, US dollars and DM. Other kinds of currency are difficult or costly to exchange. The exchange rate on January 1, 1998 was : 1 USD=17.5 som; 1 DM = 10 som. The travel for all the participants, except for the Kyrgyz portion, will be at their own expense, with no honoraria. Prominent scholars from the countries of the ISTC funding parties will be invited to give the overview reports in each session. The organizers reserve the right to decline papers or shift them to poster presentations. Telephone, fax, and E-mail will be arranged for the seminar. Please note: All the payments are by cash only (except at the Dostuk Hotel in Bishkek).
