Description Biology of cytokines is one of the most quickly developing fields in contemporary science. Cytokines are involved in regulation of inflammation and immunity and play key role in the pathogenesis of infectious diseases and in immunopathology. Cytokine medical preparations can be successfully used for defence of infections and radiation, for the therapy of immunodeficiency and other diseases. Russian Cytokine Society organized in 2001 became the coordinator of scientific and clinical cytokine studies. The conference on cytokines will be the first one organized in Russia. This meeting will help to share scientific information in this field and make new contacts for scientific collaboration. Main scientific topics to be discussed during the Conference are as follows: Cytokines – fundamental and clinical studies. Regulation of inflammation. Molecular and cellular mechanism of immunity. Immunodiagnostics and immunomodulatory preparations. Conference participants will be mainly scientists from Russia and CIS countries. Organizers plan to invite all Russian scientists working on ISTC projects devoted to cytokines and immunology. Some foreign cytokine investigators have already agreed to take part in the Conference. Among them Prof. D.Fradelizi (European Cytokine Society Vice-President, Editor in Chief of the European Cytokine Network). Well known American scientists who are collaborators on the ISTC project 1770 are invited to participate with lectures (Prof. J.Oppenheim and Prof C.Dinarello). Specialists from “DARPA” are also invited to attend the Conference. The working language of the Seminar will be English. The simultaneous translation to Russian will be provided.
