    Organize
    6th INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR ON SCIENCE AND COMPUTING
    Conference hall of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences
    Moscow, 15-17 September, 2003

    The Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) of the International Science and Technology Center (ISTC) organizes each year a seminar on a broad subject of current interest to the Science and Technology Community. The objective of these seminars is promoting exchange of S&T information for stimulating new ISTC projects, fostering contacts between Russian and other CIS scientists and their colleagues from the other ISTC Parties with the aim of developing new collaborations.

    Computers and their applications have enjoyed a tremendous development since the end of World War II and are the backbone of the Knowledge-based society of the 21st century. The objective of the Sixth ISTC-SAC seminar is to present the contribution of computing in the progress of science and the role of science in the development of computer technology; hardware and software. The topics will range from the new concepts of computing, algorithm, and development of application in information technology, design, manufacturing, and basic sciences. The topics to be considered are listed here in two broad categories but are not limited to them.
    • Role of Science in Computing
    - Parallel Computing, neural networks
    - Advanced concepts; optical, quantum and DNA computers
    - Infrastructures of computers
    • Role of Computing in Science
    - Mathematical methods for computational optimization
    - Modeling of Physical processes in acoustics, electro-magnetism, fluid dynamics, mechanics, chemistry, physics, climatology etc.
    - Bioinformatics, genomics, proteonomics
    - Numerical visualization
    - Controls and robotics
    - Artificial intelligence, expert systems, pattern recognition
    - Data handling, storage, compression, retrieval and data mining
    - Data interoperability

    The seminar will have invited talks, and contributed papers that will be presented either orally or in poster sessions. The papers will be accepted on the basis of 1000 words abstract in English. Authors are kindly requested to indicate to which of the topics their paper is related. Abstracts of all accepted papers (oral and poster) will be published by the beginning of the Seminar and provided to the participants during registration. The full length papers will published in the proceeding.
    Authors are requested to submit their contributions by e-mail to:

    - title, author(s), affiliation;
    - an abstract in English of about 1000 words.

    Upon the request the Instructions for paper preparation could be send to authors by e-mail. They will be also available on the Seminar web site together with registration forms, preliminary program and other related information (http://www.istc.ru/istc/website.nsf/fm/Seminar).

    The attendance to this seminar will be limited to the nationals of the ISTC Parties.
